The development of semiconductor is very rapidly, new theorems, processes, equipment
continuous appear in the world. Semiconductor Laboratory will develop under these tendencies.
Research & Develop Goal:

(l) Developing space & terrestrial silicon solar cells
(2) Promoting the micro electro mechanical system (MEMS).
2. Mid Term & Long term Goal:
(1) Setup the MEMS incubator.
(2)Establishing a consultant office which will offer customers
technological information and suggestions for them to plan their future.
1 . The Development of Solar Cell :
Semiconductor Laboratory has been joined the R&D project of solar array panel assembly of ROCSAT-1
with the National Space Program Office, and also to join the R&D program of the solar cell for
space of National Science Council. Semiconductor Laboratory have plentiful experiences and
breakthrough of technique in the region of solar cells. In the future, the demands of environmental
protection and recycle energy shall become more important than at present.
Semiconductor Laboratory will continue to develop solar cells.
2. The development of process of MEMS:
MEMS is a new term of technology. Nevertheless, MEMS have gone into our life. For example, the pressure
sensor of air bag is a kind of application of MEMS. Traditional semiconductor - Silicon base (silicon wafer),
its usage is transmission of electric signals. If silicon base is etched to become cavity and trench, or deposited
film on its surface by semiconductor processes .
The people can make tiny electrical and mechanical elements on the silicon base. Tiny electrical and
mechanical elements can measure mass, force of different actions( or reaction ), heat, EM wave,
chemical energy ... etc. Thus, it can be used as flow meter, pressure meter and different kind of sensors.
The development of MEMS is our main work.
3. The training courses of semiconductor¡Jconsistently
Semiconductor Lab. have trained numerous engineer of semiconductor industry in Taiwan since
1984. In future, Semiconductor Laboratories will keep consistently the service as before,
to be the bridge with the manpower of semiconductor.
